A report presented by the committee Chairman, Ambassador Shehu Wurno, to Governor Aminu Tambuwal revealed that the committee verified 14,532 qualified students in 40 tertiary institutions within and outside the country.

He said: “We have confirmed that N544,613,724 was the total cost of students’ registration for the 2016/2017 academic session, while N143,560,855 was calculated as allowances for the number of verified students, totalling N688,174,579 as amount owed for students’ registration and allowances for the session.”

Assuring that his administration will continue to give priority to the education sector, Tambuwal said the education levy introduced by the state had so far yielded N260 million.

The governor said: “We have so far saved N260 million through the education levy. We hope to liaise with the state consultative committee on revitilisation of education, headed by Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad, to continue our work in the education sector.”

While assuring that the recommendations of the committee will be implemented, the governor commended members of the committee for a diligent job.
